Characteristics of the drainage system:
- The total length of the city's sewerage networks is 1,187 km, of which 60% have been in operation for more than 30 years.
- Sewage pumping station No. 10 accounts for 13% of energy consumption out of a total of 115 stations in the city.
Challenges:
- Worn-out equipment leads to frequent accidents and high energy costs.
- Equipment does not meet modern energy efficiency standards.
- Increased risk of environmental problems due to system wear and tear.
Project activities::
- Replacement of pumping units with new energy-efficient pumps (cost: 450 thousand euros).
- Installation of frequency converters for flexible wastewater management (cost: EUR 225 thousand).
- Replacement of shut-off valves, which will increase the efficiency of the plant (cost: 128 thousand euros).
- Installation of a solar power plant with a capacity of 10 kW to meet part of the energy needs (cost: 10 thousand euros).
- Implementation of automation to reduce human resources for maintenance (cost: 45 thousand euros).
Expected results:
- Energy savings: 30% reduction in consumption (1,080,000 kWh/year).
- Generation of “green” energy: 12,950 kWh per year.
- Reduction of CO₂ emissions by 525 tons per year.
- Improved conditions for 66,200 consumers due to more reliable sewerage.
Development prospects:
- Scaling up to other pumping stations in the city.
- Implementation of environmental initiatives, including the installation of solar power plants for all pumping stations.
- Integration with innovative monitoring and management systems, attracting international grants to support long-term development.
